Located on over seven miles of water frontage along the Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers, The Navy Yard offers beautiful waterfront setting with mature landscaping and century-old buildings. All of this combines to provide ample opportunities for lunchtime walks, jogging after work, or leisure activities.
Crescent Park, located just within The Navy Yard's front gates, offers a quiet place for strolling, and putting green for those looking to improve their handicap. A new 2.5-acre park, League Island Park, opened in summer 2013, along with nearly $4 million in new projects that will increase the number of pocket parks, walking, biking, and jogging paths. The Riverfront Greenway, a one-mile path opened in spring 2013 for walking, jogging, and biking along the river.. At full build-out, The Navy Yard will have over 50 acres of open space and two miles of waterfront trail.
All of these recreational facilities and parks in and around The Navy Yard combine to offer growing opportunities for organized activities. We have partnered with the Philadelphia Sport and Social Club, which coordinates the organized recreational sports leagues within The Navy Yard.
In early 2014, The Navy Yard welcomed the Courtyard Philadelphia South at The Navy Yard, the first hotel located on campus. The LEED Certified Courtyard offers 172 rooms, conference/event space, and The Bistro: all-day dining, a Starbucks coffee shop, and evening bar.
