Spring has arrived in Philadelphia! The trees and flowers are in bloom, the sunshine is abundant, and birds are chirping outside. There are many great outdoor events to take advantage of at The Navy Yard, both during the day (take a break from work) or on evenings/weekends (to benefit charitable organizations). Here’s a short list; all events can be found on our Events page.
The Navy Yard 5k
The 2nd annual Navy Yard 5k will take place on Wednesday, June 3, rain or shine. The race is open only to employees of The Navy Yard .In addition to the race, \the Health + Wellness Expo will take place in Crescent Park. The Expo will feature Navy Yard tenants educating employees on all aspects of workplace health, wellness, nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle. Whether you participate as a runner, volunteer, or as a spectator, we hope to see you there! The event is FREE, but you must pre-register by Friday, May 29th at bit.ly/thenavyyard5k.
Broad Street Run Information
The 36th annual Blue Cross Broad Street Run will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2015. The Broad Street Run starting line is at Broad Street and W. Fisher Avenue and ends 1/4 mile inside the Broad Street Gate at The Navy Yard. It is the largest 10-mile race in the nation and benefits the American Cancer Society through runners’ donations and pledges. Cheer on runners at the finish line in The Navy Yard. Lo Spiedo and Mercer Cafe will be open for dining after the race.
Summer Outdoor Yoga
The Navy Yard is pleased to partner with Nava Yoga Center once again to present FREE outdoor summer yoga classes! Nava Yoga Center, located in the Vincera Institute at 1200 Constitution Ave, is teaching classes under the bright blue skies every Monday from June 1 through June 29th from 7 to 8 am in League Island Park (with a rain location inside the Nava studio across the street). The class is for all-levels, yogis just need to BYOMat and pre-register at bit.ly/navyyardyoga.
Spring and Summer Lunch Truck Lineup
Warm weather at The Navy Yard also means Lunch Truck Lineup. Now through the fall, we’re welcoming food trucks every Thursday on the Marine Parade Grounds. Stay tuned to social media for the weekly unveiling of Thursday’s truck lineup on the Marine Parade Grounds! READ MORE
Greensgrow Farms CSA
For the third year in a row, The Navy Yard will be a Greensgrow CSA (city-supported agriculture) pick up location. For six months, Greensgrow CSA members enjoy weekly or bi-weekly shares of the season’s freshest local fruits, vegetables, proteins, cheeses, and more! More information and sign ups can be found at Greensgrow’s website. Not a member? Greensgrow will offer select items for sale to the public from 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM on the Marine Parade Grounds.
