PIDC Announces Philadelphia Navy Yard Development Partner Shortlist

PIDC, Philadelphia’s public-private economic development corporation, received over 35 responses to the request for qualifications (RFQ) issued last fall for development of 109 acres at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. This opportunity comprises the next stage of development at the Navy Yard, focused on bringing expanded life sciences R&D and production, corporate headquarters, office and commercial, retail and restaurant amenities, and for the first time, mixed-use residential buildings, to the Navy Yard’s Historic Core and Mustin Districts. From the diverse mix of experienced local and national developers who responded, PIDC has created a shortlist of highly attractive prospective partners who have been invited to submit detailed proposals in a request for proposal (RFP) stage, with final selection of a partner to be made later this year.  Read more

Iovance Biotherapeutics Announces New Facility at the Navy Yard to Support U.S. Production of Tumor Infiltrating Lymphocyte Cell Therapy Products

Iovance Biotherapeutics, Inc., a late-stage biotechnology company developing novel cancer immunotherapies based on tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) technology, today announced that it has entered into a lease agreement to build an approximately 136,000 square foot commercial-scale production facility at the Philadelphia Navy Yard for commercial and clinical production of autologous TIL products, including its candidate lifileucel. Indego Bike Share Announces Expansion to South Philadelphia

Indego bike share program announced today that it will grow this summer, adding at least eight more stations to the system. Early summer expansion will include station and bike availability at the Navy Yard with connections at AT&T Station and FDR Park. Ribbon Cut on Third Laboratory Facility for WuXi AppTec at the Navy Yard

Liberty Property Trust and PIDC  joined WuXi AppTec, Inc., a global leader in pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals, and medical devices, for a ribbon cutting ceremony to open their third facility at the Navy Yard.  This new 150,000 square foot facility which, when fully operational, has the potential to accommodate an additional 200 high tech manufacturing and support jobs. New Federal Award to Expand Navy Yard Shuttle Service

PIDC, Philadelphia’s public-private economic development corporation, today announced it will expand its popular shuttle service at the Navy Yard, as a result of receiving funding from the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC). The $416,280 award is part of the Competitive Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Program that funds projects to improve air quality and/or reduce traffic congestion. CMAQ projects reduce emissions and help Greater Philadelphia meet federal health-based air quality standards. Read more
