Alstom, a leader in smart grid and innovative utility solutions, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with The Pennsylvania State University to establish a global center of excellence for microgrids at The Navy Yard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This center, the first of its kind, will help advance the development of microgrid technologies as part of The Navy Yard’s grid modernization project. Read more
Alstom has been awarded $1.2M by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to improve grid resiliency through the advancement of microgrid technology. Alstom will research and design a community microgrid system in partnership with the Philadelphia Water Department (PWD), which provides water, wastewater and storm water services for greater Philadelphia, and PIDC, Philadelphia’s public-private economic development corporation. The EnergyWorks Loan Fund provides low-cost financing to support energy efficiency retrofit projects for businesses and nonprofits in Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties. PIDC partners with The Reinvestment Fund and the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability to offer this innovative energy efficiency program. Read more

Liberty Property Trust and Synterra Partners announced on September 4th, 2013 that it has received LEED® Gold certification under the Core & Shell™ rating system from the U.S. Green Building Council at 150 Rouse Boulevard in The Navy Yard Corporate Center. The accreditation is the seventh for the Liberty Property/Synterra team at The Navy Yard, which is one of the largest collections of LEED commercial buildings in the region.
Graboyes Commercial Window Co., a commercial window installer with deep roots in custom window and door replacement throughout the Philadelphia region, has relocated its corporate headquarters from 7th & Callowhill Streets to The Navy Yard in June 2013.
